My first task upon arriving in Germany was to actually learn the language, which also became my first introduction to language acquisition.  This was one of the most intensive experiences (adventures) I had had up to that point.  Five hours a day, five days a week, 10 months.  Although the students were such a wonderful mix of cultures, we still shared the same goal:  learning to communicate in a foreign language.

I enjoyed that time so much and it re-opened my eyes to a childhood ambition of teaching.

Since then I have taken part in various trainings and received certification, but it all began with good old “learning-by-doing” at the Adult Education Center in Dortmund.  This was followed by work at Berlitz, then on to Benedict, and then back to Berlitz.  The most exciting task so far has been setting up and running the English program for Siemens VDO in Dortmund.
